Two killed by car after fighting in the middle of Maryland roadway

Two people are dead after being struck by a car late Saturday while they were fighting in the middle of a Howard County roadway, police said.

The crash occurred around 11:14 p.m. in Jessup, where a 2002 Honda Civic traveling south on Washington Boulevard (US 1) struck the pedestrians near Port Capital Drive, Howard County police said. According to police, witnesses said the unidentified pedestrians were fighting on the ground in the travel lanes of the road.

Both pedestrians were taken to shock trauma, where they were pronounced dead, police said. They were not identified early Sunday.

The driver of the Civic, an Elkridge man, and a woman riding in the car were not injured in the crash.
