We’re calling this 2017 trend early: Celebrities and paint colors mix better than you’d think. Selena Gomez has confirmed that once again with her latest venture, which is only tangentially related to her music. Like her peer Kendall Jenner, Gomez has a distinct vision for walls, and she’s collaborated with Portola Paints & Glazes to create her very own shade.
Perhaps surprisingly, the paint shade isn’t in her favorite color, green, which she revealed a few years ago. Instead, it’s a purple that’s closer to the color of eggplant, as evidenced by the first swirly look at it shared on Instagram by the Los Angeles–based high-end paint brand. The name, Revival, nods to Gomez’s 2015 album of the same title, her second number one album.
If you’re left questioning the connection between the pop star and Portola paint, Gomez’s recent Instagram will clear up any confusion. As it turns out, the cofounder Jamie Davis is married to Gomez’s trainer, Amy Rosoff Davis, which the singer explained in her shout-out to Portola. “Proud of my trainers husband cause he’s goals for real @amyrosoffdavis @portolapaints,” she wrote.
It’s Gomez, though, who has redefined what “goals” are for celebrities — as that usually means an empire consisting of tour merch, endorsements, and campaigns. Home decor isn’t exactly the norm. Now that Gomez is raising the bar, maybe it’s time for more stars to follow suit. Soon, gone will be the days of teens plastering their walls with posters — instead, they can just deck them out with their favorite artists’ shade of paint.
