A man suspected of robbing a restaurant early Wednesday was shot by a Puyallup police officer after brandishing a weapon during a chase, authorities said.
Officers responded to reports of a robbery at a restaurant when they began chasing a suspicious vehicle speeding out of a parking lot, police said in a statement.
The suspect left Highway 512 at South Meridian Street and crashed, police said.
When officers moved in to take him into custody, he brandished a weapon and an officer with the Puyallup Police Department opened fire, police said.
