Police ID victim in Sebastopol triple shooting

Police identified on Monday a man who was killed in a triple shooting in Sebastopol over the weekend.

Nathan Proto, a 36-year-old Sebastopol resident, was killed on Saturday after at least one gunman opened fire on him and two other people on the 5000 block of Highway 116 South around 8:15 p.m., Sonoma County Sheriff’s officials said.

Proto was taken to a hospital, where he died.

The two other victims, whose names were not released, hospitalized but the extent of their injuries were not released.

No arrests have been made and “deputies are hard at work” to identify a suspect and a motive for the shooting, said Sgt. Spencer Crum of the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office.
