Twelve hours after a plumber’s body was found at an Oceanside construction site on Thursday, investigators arrested a man on suspicion of murder.
Police said they believe Oceanside resident Mikhail Schmidt, 30, killed Jacob Laughlin Bravo, 37.
The motive for the crime is still being investigated, Lt. Valencia Saadat said in a statement on Friday.
Bravo’s body was found inside an office trailer at the site of a condominium building under construction on Windward Way. A co-worker saw him lying in a pool of blood and called police about 5 a.m., investigators said.
Saadat said they received a tip about 4:40 p.m. that Bravo might be the suspect in the case.
Officers found him on The Strand, about two blocks from the construction site, and had him in custody by 5 p.m.
No information was released about the connection between the two men, or how Bravo was killed.
Bravo was not from San Diego County. Saadat said the killing was not gang-related.
