Attention Anglophile aesthetes: Britain’s favorite luxury department store, Harrods, has just announced its first in-house furniture line. Designed in collaboration with Italian company Porada and featuring upholstery from British purveyor Artistic, the line consists of sofas, tables, chairs, sideboards and cabinets, all in a modern deco style that evokes the brand’s heritage. Intricate details and luxe materials like marble, velvet, and brass add flair to the contemporary silhouettes, which will be available in-store beginning March 7th.
“The elegant designs created by the Harrods Interiors team bring together contemporary, understated finishes and the finest materials,” said Harrods’ director of home Annalise Fard in a statement. Though furniture has previously been available at Harrods (the store has carried such venerable brands as Vitra and B&B Italia) and the company offers interior design consultation, the jump to producing their own marks a strong faith in the industry. The Harrods furnishings will join the company’s in-house lines of menswear, womenswear, and bedding.
